I found a great political blog written by “a citizen who is paying attention” in Alaska. He or she, going by the nom de screen of “AKMuckraker” has a blog called Mudflats.
In Mudflats, the writer – who is well-spoken and seemingly well-connected – gives us a compelling, blow-by-blow account of just what’s happening with the Republicans’ attempts to squelch the Palin Troopergate investigation results.
Local Alaskans who actually know the players weigh in on the comment threads, and I found the conversation riveting. Here’s the post which was updated today: “There they go again; Emergency motion filed with [Alaska] Supreme Court to stop Troopergate investigation.”
Also, these two photos are kind of fun. They were both taken today at rallies in Anchorage. The top photo is from the Obama rally, the bottom one from the Palin rally. (The candidates were not at these rallies in person.) The latest post on Mudflats (on the front page right now) gives the account of the blog writer as he or she attended both rallies.

Hi, I just wandered over here from the Green Parenting Week tip
from the Sierra Club, and I’m enjoying your blog very much.
Thanks for restoring my confidence in Alaskans.
Hi there! I’m still new enough at blogging to be delighted by every single comment that appears… and I’m happy you’re enjoying my mongrel mix of daily preoccupations. And, about Mudflats… I know, it was heartening to happen onto this window into Progressive Alaska.
