oil painting of the forest outside

I stare constantly at the trees outside, grey branches woven and netted — and finally I bring them into the house with paint, using the brief light while it’s here.

This photo was edited to put light on my painting.

Happy Solstice!

Love your photos and very nice painting! I used to live in the Northwest before moving to Alabama, and I miss the beautiful scenery every day. Thanks for sharing such a nice simple way of living, and I will certainly visit you on your blog often.

    Hi, Gloria –

I’m happy to have you visit my blog. I spent some time reading through your blog as well, (readers can click on your name in your comment to get to it) and I appreciate the peaceful quality of it, as well as your lovely photos. Plus your cat, Emily, looks exactly like my cat, so I put a couple photos of Guinevere on my sidebar to show you.

It always makes me stop and think when people refer to this life we lead out here as simple. It’s a lot of things, but I’m not sure if simple is one of them. I think that’s a subject for a whole blog post, though. In any case, I hope you come back often and read!
